Believe it or not, chain restaurants promote huge around the time Cinco de Mayo approaches. And whether your establishment does special events during the celebration fo the Mexican victory of the Battle of Puebla, this is a good time for your establishment to celebrate as well.
Hold happy hour sales.
If your establishment already do some sort of happy hour, well then you should really do a happy-hour during Cinco de Mayo. Did you know that Americans drank 12.3 million cases of tequila in 2013? And seeing that tequila is so treasured in Mexico that there’s even a trade agreement with the US regarding tequila, it’s a good idea to stock up on Mexican drinks (if you haven’t already).
Nobody exactly said that you had to do a Cinco de Mayo promotion on May 5th. So make the opportunity to celebrate more on the Mexican celebration. Whether you’re celebrating for a few days or maybe even a week, it doesn’t hurt to bring a more festive mood to your establishment once in a while.
Have a special menu.
If we were to learn anything from chef Rick Bayless, is that Mexican cuisine can be seriously awesome. If your establishment serves up food, have a special menu what features Mexican cuisine. While we don’t exactly mean replace your menu all together (although you can if you want), it doesn’t hurt to stray from your usual cuisine and try something new.
