Michael Roller had one of two options:
“Either pick a new job or pick a new girlfriend.”
So Roller gave up his life as a mariner to join his girlfriend Ashley and another friend, Dustin, to open a restaurant in Winter Park. In a few weeks, on West Fairbanks, you’ll see Scratch, which will specialize in modern American tapas and craft beers.
“For Ashley and Dustin, it’s been a dream of theirs for a long time to do this,” Roller said, “and I’m joining their fun, and it’s allowing me to stay home.”
As Roller has begun looking for equipment for his restaurant, he naturally thought of One Fat Frog in South Orlando.
“This was our first restaurant and we didn’t know what we were doing,” Roller said. “Connie and her team genuinely cares about our success. It’s not just about buying equipment. It’s establishing a relationship that lasts a lifetime.”
Roller said he knows it’s not going to be easy to open a restaurant but he and his partners are up for the challenge.
“It’s been incredibly stressful and hectic already. Nothing every goes as planned,” he said. “But this is our dream and we’re going to make it come true.”
