Bacon Celebration at the 2013 Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show

I mentioned earlier about some new culinary competitions going down at the 2013 Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show, but I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t mention the Bacon Celebration Event…

Bacon seems to be the high point of our popular culture nowadays and chefs have been looking for exciting new ways to use the salted pork in their creations. At the FRLS this year, Smithfield Foodservice is hosting the Bacon Celebration Event.

A variety of foodservice professionals will be participating in the All-New Bacon Demonstration Theater during the Show, taking place September 22 to 24, 2013 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Attendees to the celebration will have the chance to learn new bacon recipes. With 62 percent of restaurants offering bacon on the menu, attendees to the Show will definitely want to take advantage of this bacon bash!

Other special events at the Show include:

• Food Trends Experience: this tasting arena and Demo Theater will be home to over 100 trend focused food and beverage products. This will be a great place to find and source new products.

• Ferdinand Metz Foodservice Forum: this education program will show the keys to success in the food service business. Experets on hand will b chosen by Ferdinand Metx, Certified Master Chef, Dean for Le Cordon Bleu, and the past president of the World Association of Chefs Societies.

• Culinary Demonstration Theater: featured chefs include Chef Emily Ellyn and more! These presentations will highlight the trends in the foodservice industry and entertain spectators with demonstrations.

• The 2013 American Culinary Federation Culinary Arts Competition: chefs will compete in various culinary competitions, including the USA Culinary Cup Challenge, Taste of Elegance Port Signature Recipe Competition, Mushroom Signature Recipe Competition, and the Florida Pastry Challenge. Award winning meals from the competitions will be served during the Chef’s Table Luncheons, a four-course surprise lunch prepared by the participating chefs.
