Start Training for Eating Contests!

Hey, folks! It’s Professor Frog’s 200th post on One Fat Frog’s blog here! Not only do I hang out with people selling top quality used restaurant equipment, but I’ve put up 199 blog posts and this one is a big one! So, if I’m going to write about such a monumental accomplishments, I have to discuss accomplishments with food. And since I just wrote a blog mentioning the Fan vs. Food Challenge at Tampa’s Tropicana Field yesterday, why not discuss some of the best food-eating contests around the country! So here…we…GO!

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Coney Island, NY: we’re getting close to the 4th of July, which means it’s about that time where people from around the world will stuff their faces with as many hot dogs as they can in 10 minutes. You think you can unseat Joey Chesnutt’s title and win $10,000? Good luck!

The Texas King, Amarillo, TX: think you can finish off the 72 ounces of steak, plus baked potato, ranch beans, shrimp cocktail, salad, and roll with butter at the Big Texan Steak Ranch in one hour? I’d like to see you try!

The Wing Bowl, Philadelphia, PA: yes, I didn’t know of this one either. Every year, thousands gather in the City of Brotherly love to battle each other for chicken-wing-consumption dominance. And this one is known for being particularly debaucherous from what I’ve read, so leave the kids at home!

Jalapeno Eating Contest: there’s an annual fight between Laredo, Texas, and Chicago to see who will host this one where contestants have 15 minutes to eat as many of the spicy pepper as they can. The current world record is held by Chicago’s Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, who consumed 266 of them. And lots of milk, I’m sure.

Local State Fair: of course, if you’re not in the mood for traveling, you can always just find out when your local state fair is coming to town. They are known for some form of eating contests. In fact, in my research for this post, I found that the Bacon Beatdown will be taking place right here at the Central Florida Fair, June 29-30 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. How much bacon can you eat?

So there you go. Eating contests galore, 200 blog posts, and if you’re not for eating the food, you can certainly make it with the amazing used equipment we have at One Fat Frog! Get your range, your fryer, your refrigerator, whatever it is, we can help you get the best!
