On Thursday, May 2, 2013 around noon time, lemonade stands will popping up around Downtown Orlando. The “Make a Stand” Lemonade Project was started by 9-year-old activist Vivienne Harr, who’s aim is to raise money to help end childhood slavery.
Mayor Dyer will be joining Harr, as the event kicks off at Orlando Cuty Hall.
Harr’s project went viral after New York Times op-ed columnist Nicholas Kristof tweeted about the project. She’s since been featured on many media outlets such as BBC and Yahoo.
Lemonade stands will be stationed around Downtown Orlando and the entire community is encouraged to come out and help the cause. The even is part of the 4th annual SNAP! Orlando photography celebration, which showcases the work of international, national, and local photographers.
