Using Apps to Market Your Restaurant

So you’ve got a restaurant, and you know full well that the best way to get the word out is by using a variety of marketing methods. Of course, in today’s digital world, anything that can accessed via a computer, a tablet, or a smart phone is going to get the most attention. There are apps out there that can help the average consumer find new restaurants no matter where they go. I myself have Urbanspoon on my phone where I can search for restaurants based on location, concept, or price. So if the consumers use apps to find restaurants, why can’t the restauranteur use apps to better run and market his business? Here is a quick list of apps you can use to help you out.

-Urbanspoon: since I mentioned it already, this can also be used because it puts your restaurant in a local database on the app which allows people to easily find information on it. You can get it on iPhone or your Android phone, and yes, it’s free.

-Foodspotting: With this app, people can take pictures of a specific dish that they like and put it on the app. Say you make a great burger. You can snap a picture of the burger, put it on Foodspotting, and when customers think that they’d love a burger, they search for the best burger place nearby and yours could pop up. And just like many apps, it’s available for both iPhone and Android, and it’s free.

-Opentable: This is another great app that’s available. It allows for quick and easy reservations at your restaurant. It can be used online as well as an app, and with a quick click or tap of the screen, patrons can land a reservation at your restaurant.

There are a lot of other apps available as well that are similar to those above, plus not to mention social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter that are being used more extensively. The bottom line is trying to get more people in your restaurant, so find any method you can and work with it. And the best part about using these apps is they’re free, they’re easy to use, and you don’t have to run all over town plastering up flyers.
