Picture 1

The City of Winter Park recently announced they will be constructing a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. monument inside the park at 1050 W. Morse Blvd. That location was formerly known as Lake Island Park, but was renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Park in June 2012. Winter Park’s annual Unity Heritage Festival held in January 2013, included a special dedication ceremony in which the park was officially dedicated. The monument will be positioned at the entrance of the park.

To help construct the monument the city is selling bricks for $50 each. The bricks can be purchased at the Winter Park Community Center, at 721 W. New England Ave.
