Golden Corral Continues Tradition of Giving Back on Thanksgiving

For 20 years, Golden Corral and the Salvation Army of Central Florida have been giving back to the community in a big way. Every Thanksgiving they prepare over 25,000 meals and deliver them to nursing homes, shut-ins, local churches, and other locations throughout Central Florida – including the Salvation Army in Orlando.

Eric Holm, franchisee of 30 Golden Corral restaurants in Florida and Georgia, states that Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for our blessings, but to also help anyone in need of food. He remembers having to go to the Salvation Army when he was a kid, being raised by a single mom who worked two jobs, to share Thanksgiving with the community. He started the “Helpings From the Heart Thanksgiving Feast” as a way to give back to the community that has helped his restaurants succeed.

The Feast has grown to become a collaborative effort between Golden Corral and the Salvation Army, as well as the non-profit community and local businesses including MBM Food Services, Cheney Brothers, Pepsi, Universal Studios Orlando, and, yours truly, One Fat Frog Restaurant Equipment. We’ve donated equipment to help in the food preparation.

The Feast will begin at 11:00am on Thanksgiving Day at the Salvation Army at 440 W. Colonial Dr., Orlando.
