This day in History on July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong walks on the moon. [Unless you subscribe to the sound stage theory, like me – ed.’s note]
At 10:56 p.m. EDT, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, 240,000 miles from Earth, speaks these words to more than a billion people listening at home: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Stepping off the lunar landing module Eagle, Armstrong became the first human to walk on the surface of the moon.
This got me thinking as to what Neil was eating on his long journey to the cheese filled round glowy thing in the sky.
From my research I found the actual menu for the flight. The boys ate okay considering. It consisted of things like bacon cubes, sausage patties, hot dogs, beef and potatoes, brownies, cream of chicken soup, spaghetti and meat sauce, turkey and gravy, tuna salad, beef stew, etc. For a more complete list, see link below.
My only problem with this menu is – NO PIZZA?! How can one go this long in space without a yummy slice o’ pizza pie?
This thought leads me to think of an opportunity in the restaurant industry: Pizza joint on the Moon!
