Eat Lots of Cupcakes for Charity!

It’s time for the bakeries of Orlando to throw down in the Cupcake Thunderdome! For charity, of course.

The Cupcake Challenge helps raise money for Dress For Success of Greater Orlando on Sunday, October 21, 2012, 12-3 p.m. at Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar in Pointe Orlando. The best bakeries in Greater Orlando will have a chance to show off their sweet cupcake creations and vie for a variety of awards like ‘Best Frosting’, ‘Best Decorated and Crowd Favorite.’ Attendees can taste and sample these delicious sweets, while bidding on a variety of silent auction items and participating in a Greater Orlando Culinary Student Showcase.  The event is family friendly. Pre-event tickets cost: $15 for an individual and $40 for a family up to 6 people.  Tickets will be available through Event Brite. (via TheDailyCity)

What does Dress for Success of Greater Orlando do? “DFSGO was created to fill a critical need for interview appropriate clothing for low-income women entering the workforce. We help solve the dilemma: Without a job, how can I afford a suit? Without a suit, how can I get the job?”

That’s some noble work right there. Eat lotsa cupcakes and help women get jobs!
