After nearly a minutes and a half went by (patience is one of a Jedi’s virtues), I called for the kid’s attention. He turned to me and in his rehearsed customer service tone and asked if he could help me with anything. This is where my mind melted and leaked out my ears.

Now, I’m the not most striking bloke on the block, but I like to think it would be at least a little difficult to forget someone with glasses, a big red beard, and colorful tattoos 90 seconds after you engage in business with them. I told him I needed my juice and he started punching it in as a new transaction. I looked around for hidden cameras then composed myself.

Everything worked out in the end but it was a bittersweet glass of orange juice for having to deal with such clumsy service. I’d like to tell all the kids out there working minimum wage jobs, stuck behind a register all day…I’ve been there, man. But your job still matters. As mundane as it is, it still reflects on you’re entire future in the work force. It’ll still shape your work ethics for years to come.  Take it seriously. And give me my orange juice.
