A Look at Four Eyed Frog’s VHS Gems

Google Girl was impressed and perplexed today when I told her that I collect VHS tapes. You know, those bulky pieces of black plastic that you used to watch movies on? I still do. Mainly horrible instructional and safety videos that will never be put on DVD for preservation. There are millions of them out there that were mass produced in the 80s and 90s and are now collecting dust on thrift store shelves.

There’s a whole culture of people who buy these VHS tapes, digitally convert them onto their laptops, and re-edit them into humorous videos for YouTube and whatnot. It’s a fun hobby and you’re really never sure what you’re buying. Blank, unlabeled VHS with no covers are the best. I once bought a blank tape that turned out to be a home video of a teenager practicing his nunchuck skills in front of a mirror. Then there’s gems like “Angela Lansbury’s Positive Moves” or “A Woman’s Guide to Firearms.” I also have one where Henry Winkler teaches kids how to fend of rabid strangers. I’m not kidding.


I’ll post some more pics of my collection soon. I just happened to have these on my phone.

A lesson from a Delivery Driver

Received a call last week from a great customer in Clermont who said, “Google Girl, I want you to know just how good your delivery drivers were to me.  They were so polite and helpful.  I just couldn’t get over it.” This customer told me her hubby was not at the business when she took delivery and yet our team made it so simple for her.

I just had to give the drivers the feedback.  They smiled and were happy to hear that someone went out of their way to call in and share that with us.

One of the delivery drivers said to me, “my personal thing is, these people are like guests at my house.  I want to make sure they feel welcome and know we are glad to have them.”  I thought this was very poignant and thoughtful from Mr. R.

A little about Mr. R- when we buy the team pizza there come texts from him, “Thanks for the lunch.”  When he gets overtime, “thanks for the opportunity to work extra.”

Just plain good people.  This is what the Frog is about.  And we’re proud of it.  Part of our plan is making sure we have a good honest team behind us, in front of us and beside us.

Had a customer come in two weeks ago, said she felt alone and overwhelmed by the process of opening the restaurant.  We talked a lot, one of the points, you’re not alone when you work with the Frog.  We’re here to help you get into business… that’s what it’s about!

Dreams of Restaurant Equipment

Signs you are spending too much time selling restaurant equipment: you dream about Hobart mixers & Baker’s Pride double stone deck pizza ovens, then a few days later you have ongoing dream about restaurant equipment financing and hiring new employees. Yes, this is my life. Obviously the Frog never sleeps and when it does it dreams of restaurant equipment.

Yes, earlier this week I had a very vivid dream about Hobart Mixers and Baker’s Pride double stone deck pizza ovens.  I thought to myself, “oy, this is bizarre, I’m focused on work too much.”  Then last night I dreamt about restaurant equipment financing, helping the Finance Manager pull off some big deals and expanding our credit and finance department.  Sadly I woke up refreshed from these dreams and ready to go to work even though it’s the weekend.

Years ago I had this great dream about Brad Pitt and I meeting up on a ship (that looked a lot like a mixture between the Titanic and a ship I crossed the English Channel on).  Brad would pass me and kiss me on the lips, it never went further than that and he never talked to me– thankfully because I’ve always thought him rather daft.

I do think this recent dream about restaurant equipment financing as more fulfilling.  And before all you yokels in the office tease me come Monday morning that I’m having hot dreams about the Finance Manager, let me deny it.  There was nothing steamy about the dream, it truly was all work related.
