According to a SmartMoney webpost:

“Business is good for the restaurant industry. Americans now spend roughly half their food budget dining out, and restaurants expect revenue of more than $537 billion in 2007. That’s a 67% increase since 1997.”

So look at this.  Americans like to eat out.  We love us some eating out.  So, it’s understandable that you want to start a restaurant.

In Orlando we understand this all too well.  Central Florida’s economy is heavily dependent upon the hospitality industry.  This is particularly true the closer you get to Disney, Kissimmee, International I-Drive area and South Orlando.

If it needs to be done, then it needs to be done.  If I don’t know how to do it, I’ll figure it out.

It’s beautiful to hear the guys say this and it truly embodies what One Fat Frog is about.  When we interview potential Frogs we let them know that no one steps over something that needs to be done and says, it’s not my job.  If you need a hand steadying equipment then just holler into the office and someone will come out and help you.

When a new hire starts the team will tell us if they’re Frog Quality or not.  I think they judge it on the person’s ability to roll with our humor and their willingness to work as a team.  We are team players here!

Tall Guy got a hoot just now coming back from Lowe’s.  It seems they thought our name was great.  I mean what’s not to love about One Fat Frog.  We don’t take ourselves too seriously.  Life is too short!  Enjoy it!

The new showroom

So it’s the weekend and we’re here at our second location.  The Restaurant Equipment Nurse and I are painting.  Well, am I allowed to say I’m painting if I’m sitting in the same room on the internet?

So it’s gonna be a beauty!  We have a few excellent pieces of furniture coming in- I am way into the deep espresso chocolate colored wood and we have some art to put up.  Some of it actual art from the original artists like a hand painted frog on a feather.  Or a piece of art that I’ve had for years with frogs in the solar system riding a champagne bottle or a chalk drawing of a frog.  I love original art!

When we go out to see a restaurant we go out for the ambience and change of atmosphere.. and obviously your creativity is rubbing off on us.  In fact, one of our colours came from our favorite client’s bakery… J and J you WILL recognize the color when you get here altho we surely ain’t fancy enough to have white marble counters… wish we did :)

what is the world coming to?

If I didn’t really know the people this happened to I might not believe it.  This is a true story that happened this week in Sanford, FL.  The story in itself is just unbelievable for sure.

<knock on door and elderly neighbor lady says>:  Can I borrow a hundred dollars? Someone is robbing me but he says if I pay him money he’ll give my stuff back.

Neighbor guy:  Uhm, wow, I don’t think I have it.  Let me ask my roommate.

<yells to roommate upstairs who comes down, groggy with sleep>

Neighbor guy to roommate:  Lady xxxx is being robbed, but the guy said if she pays him $100 he will give the stuff back.

…now I’m rather open-mouthed at this story… what?

The guys walk with elderly neighbor lady to the would-be-thief who tells them, “yup, I’m robbing her.  I have her stuff out back on a blue tarp but I’ll give it back to her if she pays me the $100. “

So now the guys walk around back with her and the would-be thief; both of the guys are rather large, and the would-be-thief is of small stature.  Yet, the would-be-thief has no weapons and is getting close to the two guys- like within three inches of their chest- total personal space invasion.

Sure enough, behind the house there is a blue tarp and various personal items of elderly neighbor laid out on it.  So they look at the would-be-thief and say, man we’re gonna have to call the cops, there’s a lot more than a $100 worth of stuff here.  The would-be-thief says, oh don’t call the cops, my girlfriend will go to jail.  At this point he looks at them, starts running away and jumps in one leap over a 7 foot wall!

What is the world coming to?

He’s on a bit of a roll since he saw the last blog entry about his dirty old self.  Today the Tall Guy gave him a special flashlight with a long gooseneck and magnet on the tip.  Now this flashlight was any technician’s dream.  He told us he was quite pleased and is a bit worried what we’re going to ask of him.. bwahahaha!

So now The Restaurant Equipment Doctor’s on a roll, we’re talking about our next costume dress up day that everyone should dress up as mimes.   He’s suggesting he would like to attend service calls to his favorite clients dressed as a mime.

That being said, we have never really questioned him when asked to go the parts houses why he was so excited about it. But on a recent trip, our Google Girl joined along. Now the question has been answered -
