Saturday night brought a little fun at Dexter’s in Lake Mary.  Truth be known it was probably a little more fun than I’d like to admit and I may have had to apologize for it… all of that being said there was this great band there called Rockitfly (Rockitfly.com)  and they did unbelieveable covers of bands from Journey to Michael Jackson to Foreigner to Van Halen and the very best Motley Crue.

Heaven help us if the Crue ever actually comes to Orlando because we’ll have to close shop to go listen to them!  It is true that many of us here at the frog love our Motley Crue and indeed we ourselves are quite the motley crew.

boys, toys and trucks…

The guys let me run the liftgate on the 24″ box truck.  I even unloaded chairs and table bases.  Sweat poured down my face, through parts of my body better left undescribed and finished trickling down into my girdle.  Let’s just say I am not making fun of their funny sweat stains anymore.

We came in to work today.  I was able to wear my pajama bottoms and no makeup.  In fact I think I pretty much ran out of the house this a.m. with hair wet.  What a day!  But, then the Restaurant Equipment Doctor treated me to a Hazelnut Latte and Apple Fritter from Starbucks.  I tell you, he is the best!

So he was working non-stop on equipment that we have had in the last week.  I don’t care if we see it up and running, he goes through it again with a fine-tooth comb or … errrr gauges and doctorly equipment that he has.  Sometimes I look back and he has fire going up just like the circus firebreather.  It’s his own Cirque De Soleil.

I do need to post about Betty Page… that’s one for the next entry.

JUST IN: 6 burner range with 24″ flat griddle

Double oven with 6 burners and 24″ flat griddle for sale.  Will be ready to go after it’s teched out.

We’ve picked up three loads of equipment and furniture this week and are making two loads tomorrow.  Yup, we work on the weekends- most weekends!    We’ll be posting more info on it as it’s been tech’ed out and ready to go.  We go thru a rather rigorous workout for all of our equipment that starts with thorough tune- up-fix-it-all from the Restaurant Equipment Doctor and ends with our top of the line Detail man extraordinaire.  In between a few other folks touch the equipment and do their magic… shhhh ancient Chinese secret…

And, yes, boys and girls when this is ready to go we’ll be offering Financing and Leasing on this, too!  Had some great feedback recently from some other restaurant equipment dealers in the local area.  They were quite flattering and said, Google Girl, how can you offer financing and leasing to folks – to EVERYONE- and we can’t even get good credit financed?

All I can do is smile and say it’s all in the Finance Manager.  We’ve actually got a Finance Manager who’s been involved in all aspects of financing for over a decade.  This is someone who is used to working large deals as well as hardship deals. He’s been able to finance lots of folks who went elsewhere and got no financing or had very lukewarm high programs offered.  Add that to our discounted equipment and you have a recipe for success at the Frog.

Also got some feedback about our blog from one of the larger out of town competitors who said they enjoyed reading it.  Always nice to know that you’re recognized for something in the industry out of the box.  We certainly are a place of fun.  I’d say a usual day at the frog is full of a lot more joking than most jobs.  Why take life to serious?

Sorry I haven’t been around a bit, some of the more ardent followers might be able to tell my posts from the more professional ones here, if not well now you know that a few of us are blogging here.  I suppose we’ll have to start signing our blogs so you can follow your favorite bloggers instead of using your super psychic skills.

Once upon a time…

Once upon a time there was a lonely truck in a big warehouse.   Let’s just say that it’s not lonely anymore and there’s no more pulling donuts in the warehouse… uhm… not that I contemplated that or nothing. Well actually I did… a lot.  But it’s hard to pull a donut in Big Blue… which is what the Ford F250 is lovingly called.

So the warehouse is no longer empty… you have no idea how full and overflowing we are.  HUGE and overflowing with cherry equipment and smallwares and furnishings.  We’ll be having a soft opening soon- I will announce that and our Grand Opening on the blog, so keep posted.

All you have to do is put a sneeze guard over it  – and wolla! – you have a groovy way to keep your salad goods super cold while on display! It’s been joked about that we aren’t a museum of restaurant equipment, as our equipment doesn’t stay here for long. It doesn’t have time to gather any kind of dust. So, we thought (in our own funny little Frog mind) what a great idea it would be to actually have a vintage restaurant equipment museum! We’re currently building up a spot at our new Orange Blossom Trail location to showcase some of the greatest, older than dirt equipment out there! FREE ADMISSION!

If you have vintage restaurant equipment, a.k.a old-as-the-hills (i.e Restaurant Equipment Doctor) that you no longer want ’cause it’s taking up room in your barn? or your house? or your old shed out back? Bet you didn’t know….

…that our Sexy Sarah has ranidaphobia – or fear of frogs. She hates them. She’s completely afraid of them. She says that she’ll die at the age of 94 because a frog will have crossed her path and cause her to have a heart attack. She’s afraid of the ones on tv, even. Cartoon frogs also make her turn her head. It is the most unnatural fear – but to her it is real and present.

So it’s strikes us funny that she works for One Fat FROG, where we have frogs on the walls, in art, in statues and even one smoking a cigar. You won’t see her standing looking at the art work – that’s for sure. We’ve  been nice to her and not given her too much crap about it. But it is funny.

Poor thing. We wonder if she’ll ever get rid of this phobia. Time will tell.

Sprucin’ Up the Joint

So, you may have read that we’re opening up a second location on South OBT (that’s Orange Blossom Trail for all you Froggers that live out of the Orlando area). But did you know that we’re painting the place to make it super pretty….err…I mean, nice?
