Restaurants are about caring for others.  We feed people, we love them, we take care of them… THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT ALL WORTHWHILE!  Today we had a client come in and share his Haiti earthquake survivor story.  He had me in tears, so I thought I would share the story with you.  First had accounts like this are so important for us to remember the people behind the newsreels.

The day of the earthquake this customer said his mother, wife and children were in country outside of Port Au Prince and felt their house move;  the children were playing outside and felt tremors but nothing larger.  Here’s the heart of the story, this man’s brother was in a grocery store.  The grocery building actually collapsed on the man and he was buried for two days!  Thankfully he survived and was dug out within 48 hours.  What a miracle!

This is the stuff life is about.  Sure, I’d love to sell you new or used restaurant equipment, but we’re also very, very grateful for the health and well-being of those around us.

To those who survived the very tough times recently in Haiti, we are extremely grateful.

For those of you outside of the greater Orlando area, you may find interest that since we’re located so close to Orlando Sanford International Airport, we were able to see the DC-10s that came in and brought orphans.  These were called the orphan transports on the news.
