Corey Haim dead at 38 – possible drug overdose

Sad to hear Corey Haim apparently has passed in the wee hours of the morning from a drug overdose. Our hearts go out to the family and fans of Corey. Seems quite a few of the Frog staff members were Corey fans or at least had seen Lost Boys movie.

KTLA news said: LOS ANGELES — Actor and former teen idol Corey Haimhas died at the age of 38, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed to KTLA.

Haim died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday of an apparent accidental overdose, according to the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division.

Coroner’s Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said an autopsy would determine an official cause of death.

Haim was found unresponsive inside an Oakwood apartment, between Burbank and the Hollywood Hills, police said.

His mother was at the home at the time.

The Canadian-born actor, who has struggled with drug addiction, was pronounced dead Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, police said.

Haim became a teen heartthrob in the 80s after appearing in the 1986 film “Lucas” and 1987′s “The Lost Boys,” which also starred fellow teen idol Corey Feldman.

Both actors appeared together on the A&E show “The Two Coreys,” which aired from 2007 to 2008.

Haim was nominated for a Viewer’s Choice Award at the 22nd Annual Gemini Awards in Canada for his role on the show, which was canceled after two seasons. // <![CDATA[//

It’s always a shame when someone young passes virtually at their own hands. This COULD have been avoided. It does seem that Corey’s mom was in the home when he passed. One wonders if it will come out that she is the one who found him dead? What a real heartbreaking situation… there are no winners in the tragedy of drug and alcohol addiction… no winners whatsoever.

As you might have known the recent reality tv show starring Corey Haim and his childhood and teen friend Corey Feldman was cancelled for the third season when Feldman refused to work with Haim again due to the drug addictions that were readily apparent. Watching episodes of the first two seasons was a rather sad endeavor as he inflicted hurt upon hurt on himself in situations that should not have escalated to these levels.
