EarthStone Wood Burning Oven – Something Interesting

So in talking with my fellow co-workers, we noticed a blog that one of us had posted about the EarthStone wood burning oven that we have available for purchase. Someone had noted that you can actually cook steaks in these things. “Are you sure?”, was the comment that was heard the most. Followed by, “There’s no way.” We had all assumed that these ovens were meant just for pizzas! And then low-and-behold, on their website clearly stated it tells you that you can cook 8 medium size or 6 large size steaks on a 17″ x 20″ grilling rack. It appears it’s true! You can cook steaks in a wood burning oven.

I guess that’s why Red Lobster switched over to wood burning ovens. Better tasting, juicer foods. It all has to do with the high temperature of the oven. That heat brings out the sugars and carmelizes the foods. It also helps bring out the all the mouth-watering flavors.

There’s a restaurant in New Smyrna Beach, FL that puts vegetables in their wood burning oven, too. They stuff tomatoes with cheese and herbs and put in there. Apparently the taste is phenomenal. (We at One Fat Frog Restaurant Equipment haven’t had the privilege of tasting the savory tomatoes – but we do here they are quite delicious.)

I guess the long and the short of it is don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because it says pizza oven, doesn’t necessarily mean that it can only do pizzas. Think of all the fabulousness that can come out of that oven. All the food that you, the Chef Extraordinaire, can create. Be creative. Be ingenious. Be different.
